Things to do
For some this will be a nice vacation, for others a weekend outing or simply a wedding close to home! We thought we might add some of our favourite spots in the area if you would like to explore over the weekend.
Babylonstoren
Up for a walk between beautiful gardens or lunch under the trees? Look no further. This farm has been one of Megan's faves!
They even do an olive oil tour, where you can make your own olive oil. Also lovely farm shops and wine tastings!
Boschendal
Friday night market? Saturday morning breakfast? Sunday picnic on the lawns? They have it all.
Beautiful farm with Megan's favourite homeware store as well as a deli with the most delicious food & snacks! Do try their Chenin Blanc - a well known fave on the farm.
Lievland
A newish farm that only opened in 2023. They serve delicious breakfast & lunch, and have lovely wines to taste.
Be sure not to miss their award winning rosé if you go - it is divine.

Marianne Estate
Barry's farm. The one he has had a soft spot for since he came to Cape Town. Beautiful views, friendly staff & good wines!
Barry took Megan here on their first official date - let's just say neither really remember how the wine tasted.
Knus Karoo Kombuis
The best little spot in Paarl. It became a tradition for Megan & Barry to go have breakfast here for old times sake on the day that Barry needs to leave for Saudi again.
He loves the the "Knus Ontbyt", and Megan loves the "Forel Ontbyt" - it comes with fried capers and tickles all the right taste buds.
Brookdale Bistro
A farm closer to the Du Toitkloof Mountains, and also the runner up for a venue when Megan & Barry were looking around for options.
They have delicious lunch/dinner options, as well as wine tastings with cheese platters. Be sure to book lunch/dinner if you would prefer something more fancy & elegant.
Hazendal
A lovely experience in the winelands - from old vintage cars, wine tastings, driving range for the golfers or breakfast at their lovely bistro.
Be sure to book when going, as their bistro can fill up quickly over weekends.
This is where Barry asked Megan's dad for his permission to marry his daughter.
Rupert & Rothschild
It is a beautiful farm, with a restaurant & platter options with wine tastings.
It is also close to the wedding venue, for a lovely wine taste in the area!
They serve Barry's favourite red wine - their Pinotage.
For a lovely cup of coffee & croissant, we recommend visiting a nearby Bootlegger, Plato or Ou Meul.
